Freiburg and the Black Forest

Dr Falk Pharma GmbH and the Falk Foundation e.V. are based in Freiburg, a city with 200,000 inhabitants southwestern of Germany.

Freiburg is a very young and lively city with a rich cultural scene. The city is characterized by the 25,000 students of the Albert Ludwig University. Freiburg's climate and proximity to France and Switzerland lend it an almost Mediterranean charm. The regional cuisine of Baden adds to this southern atmosphere, and is crowned by numerous top-class restaurants in and around Freiburg.

Freiburg's world famous symbol, the minster with its characteristic spire, can be seen from afar, and is the only large-scale Gothic cathedral to be completed in the Middle Ages. Freiburg was founded in 1120 by the Dukes of Zähringen, who also founded Bern and Basel.

Freiburg offers the further attraction of its beautiful surroundings. The Black Forest is one of Germany's highest low mountain ranges with ideal terrain not only for nature lovers and ramblers, but also for skiers and mountain bikers. The nearby vineyards of the Kaiserstuhl and the Markgräfler Land provide Freiburg and its environs with excellent wines such as Weissburgunder and Spätburgunder.

If you are in the area, it is worth a visit. You can find a number of links to Freiburg and the surrounding area here: (Links to Freiburg)
